Installation Issues with Windows 8* and Windows 8.1*

The following issues have been reported using the Intel® NUC Kit DE3815TYKHE or Intel® NUC Board DE3815TYBE with Windows 8* or Windows 8.1*. These issues aren't found with Windows 7* or Windows Embedded* operating systems.

What are you seeing? Why are you seeing it? Workaround
Yellow exclamation marks (!) in Windows 8.1 Device Manager. Serial interface Bluetooth* and GPS under UART devices are listed in Device Manager with exception errors. Be sure you install the correct Windows 8.1 drivers:
Intel® Chipset Device Software installation does not start. The driver installs slowly and can look like it is about to halt. The installation can take longer than 5 minutes or fails to complete. Wait for the installation to complete.
DE3815TYKHE and DE3815TYBE don't meet the requirements for Windows 8 or 8.1 certification. The board and kit haven't been submitted for Microsoft Windows Hardware Certification, and aren't on the Microsoft Windows Certified Products List. Windows 7 is recommended to participate in the Microsoft Windows hardware certification program.
High CPU utilization at idle. High processor utilization at idle has been reported with Windows 8 and 8.1. BIOS version 0034 and later improves performance with Windows 8. There isn't a workaround for Windows 8.1.
