Since establishing operations in the state in 1974, Intel has invested more than $40 billion in Oregon to develop advanced high-tech manufacturing capacity.
Investing In Oregon
Intel’s operations in Oregon are Intel’s largest concentration of facilities and talent in the world. Today, with 20,000 employees west of Portland in Washington County, Intel Oregon develops and manufactures microprocessors that power data centers and hundreds of millions of smart and connected devices worldwide.
Intel anchors Oregon’s economy. Since establishing operations in the state in 1974, Intel has invested more than $40 billion in Oregon to develop advanced high-tech manufacturing capacity. Intel has helped position Washington County as the center of Oregon’s growing technology industry with a vast network of suppliers and contractors to support operations locally. According to a 2016 study conducted by economic consulting firm ECONorthwest, Intel’s annual economic impact in Oregon is approximately $27 billion.
We continually strive to improve our operations and minimize our impact on the environment. In Oregon, we have achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for 2.8 Million square feet of our campuses here in Oregon, and 100% of the power we use is green power. Sustainable water management is critical to our operations, and Intel is building a water recycling facility at our Ronler Acres campus to support manufacturing operations. In 2017, we announced a new goal to restore 100% of our global water use by 2025 through collaborative community-based projects, including in Oregon.
Diversity And Inclusion
We believe that in order to shape the future of technology, we must be representative of that future. By bringing together people with a wide range of perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences, we can continue to innovate and solve the world’s toughest challenges.
From investing in education and promoting broad economic development initiatives, to working hand-in-hand with neighbors, Intel has long been committed to applying technology and the talents of our employees to broaden access to opportunity and be an asset to our community. Over the last five years, Intel, the Intel Foundation, and Intel employees gave more than $50 million in grants, donations, and in-kind gifts to local Oregon schools, universities, and non-profits. In addition, each year our employees generously donate their time, volunteering approximately 300,000 hours in the community.
